Data Deletion Instructions

You may request the deletion of personal information we hold about you at any time. This page explains how to make a deletion request and what to expect.

To request deletion of your data, send an email to:

support@shikkha.in

Please include the following in your email:

• Subject line: “Data Deletion Request”
• Full name as registered with us
• Registered phone/WhatsApp number
• Registered email address
• NEET roll number (if applicable)
• A brief reason for the request (optional)

Sending the request from the email address registered with us helps us verify your identity quickly.

1. We acknowledge your request within 2 working days.
2. We verify your identity to ensure the request is genuine.
3. We delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days of verification.
4. We send you a confirmation email once deletion is complete.

The following will be permanently deleted or anonymised:

• Your contact information (name, phone, email, WhatsApp number).
• Uploaded documents and identification.
• Counselling notes, preferences and session records.
• WhatsApp message history with our team.

Some information may be retained even after a deletion request, as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

• Financial records (invoices, receipts, tax records) — retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law.
• Counselling-authority submissions already made on your behalf — these are with the authority and outside our control.
• Anonymised aggregate data used for service improvement — this cannot be linked back to you.

If you only wish to stop receiving WhatsApp messages from us (without deleting your full account), simply reply STOP to any WhatsApp message from Shikkha, or email us with the subject “Unsubscribe from WhatsApp”. Your other records will remain on file so we can continue supporting your counselling case.
