Punjab NEET UG 2026 Round 3 Counselling Schedule Out: Registration Fee, Security Deposit

Overview

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has released the revised schedule for the 3rd Round of UG Medical/Dental Online Counselling (NEET UG 2026) for MBBS and BDS admissions in Punjab. The vacant seat matrix will be displayed on 28th September 2026, and fresh registration, fee payment, and security deposit run from 28th September to 2nd October 2026.

Round 3 is compressed into roughly two weeks, ending with balance fee payment and joining between 12th and 14th October 2026. Because the notice also spells out who needs to register afresh, who is eligible for allotment, and what happens once a Round 3 seat is joined, candidates should read it closely before paying any deposit.

Type

• This is the Round 3 online counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions in Punjab under NEET UG 2026.

• It covers Government and Private medical/dental colleges, along with Sikh and Christian minority seats and the NRI Quota.

• It includes a surrender/resignation window for candidates who joined a seat in Round 1 or Round 2.

State / Authority

• Conducted by the Government of Punjab, through its designated health sciences university.

• Governs seat allotment for Punjab's State Quota MBBS/BDS seats across participating institutions in the state.

Provider

• Administered by the Admission Branch, BFUHS, Faridkot, which publishes the seat matrix, merit lists, allotment results, and joining instructions for each round.

• All notices are released on the official portal, bfuhs.ac.in. 

Surrender and Resignation of Joined Seats

Candidates who joined a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 and wish to surrender it can do so until 2:00 PM on 2nd October 2026, but this comes with forfeiture of the security deposit. Applications must be submitted directly to the Principal of the respective college. Applications sent to the University by e-mail, post, or any other mode will not be accepted.

Fresh Registration and Registration Fee

Fresh applicants must complete online registration and pay the application fee through the University Payment Portal between 28th September and 2nd October 2026:

• General category: ₹5,000 + 18% GST = ₹5,900.

• SC candidates: ₹2,500 + 18% GST = ₹2,950.

Freshly registered candidates must also submit their willingness and deposit the security amount. Failing to do either within the stipulated time means the candidature will not be considered for Round 3.

Who Must Register Afresh, and Who Need Not

Candidates who must register afresh:

• Candidates applying for the first time in Round 3.

• Candidates allotted a Round 2 seat (fresh or upgraded) who did not join it. They must also deposit the security amount again.

• Candidates whose Round 2 allotment was cancelled during document verification or reporting (for example, due to a change in category) and who remain eligible after forfeiting the security amount. They may be considered against the changed category, subject to seat availability.

• Candidates who resigned a Round 1 seat after the free-exit date and now hold no seat.

Candidates who need not register afresh:

• Registered candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1 or Round 2.

• Registered candidates who are holding a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 and remain eligible for Round 3.

Candidates who already paid the security amount in Round 2 and got no seat do not need to pay it again, but they must still submit willingness through the University Payment Gateway on time.

Willingness and Security Deposit

The last date for willingness and security deposit is 2nd October 2026, and it applies to all candidates, whether newly registered or already registered in earlier rounds. The security amount depends on the type of college chosen:

• Government colleges: ₹10,000 (₹5,000 for SC/BC/PwD candidates).

• Private colleges: ₹2,00,000.

• Government and Private colleges together: ₹2,00,000.

Opting for both government and private colleges means paying the full ₹2,00,000, so candidates should decide realistically which type of college they would actually join. A candidate who later switches from "Government only" to a wider option must pay the differential security amount, and the revised willingness takes effect only after that payment and resubmission within the deadline.

NRI Quota and Minority Verification

• NRI Quota applications: 28th September to 1st October 2026, up to 2:00 PM. The eligibility certificate form and the admission application form for NRI candidates are separate forms, both available on the University website.

• Minority status verification: 3rd October 2026, up to 3:00 PM. Sikh minority candidates report to Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Amritsar, and Christian minority candidates to Christian Minority Medical College, Ludhiana. Candidates already verified in Round 1 or Round 2 do not need to report again.

Merit List, Choice Filling and Allotment

• Provisional Merit List: 4th October 2026.

• Objections to the merit list: until 4:00 PM on 5th October 2026. Late objections will not be considered on any ground. The revised merit list follows the same day.

• Choice filling (course, college, quota and category): 6th to 7th October 2026.

• Seat allotment processing: 8th to 9th October 2026.

• Provisional allotment result: 10th October 2026.

• Objections to the allotment: 11th October 2026, up to 3:00 PM, submitted in person with supporting documents at the Admission Branch, BFUHS, Faridkot. E-mail and post are not accepted.

• Final/revised allotment: 11th October 2026. It will be declared after excluding candidates who have already joined seats in MCC (All India) counselling, since MCC's Round 3 joined-candidate data is due on 10th October.

Who Is Eligible for Round 3 Allotment

Candidates who submit willingness can be considered in four groups: registered candidates with no seat so far; those whose Round 2 allotment was cancelled at verification but who remain eligible; those who reported at their Round 2 institute and want an upgrade; and those who did not join a Round 2 seat and surrendered it after forfeiting the security amount. Candidates with invalid documents, those who never registered in the applicable round, or those made ineligible under Punjab Government rules cannot be allotted a seat.

Balance Fee and Joining

Provisionally selected candidates must pay the balance fee, which is six months' fee after adjusting the security deposit already paid, through the University Payment Gateway. They must then report to the allotted college to complete joining between 12th and 14th October 2026.

Once a candidate joins a Round 3 seat, surrender, resignation, or participation in any further round is not permitted. Separately, if too few candidates are available for BDS, leftover seats may be offered to candidates not eligible for the 85% state quota.

What Candidates Should Do Now

1. Check the vacant seat matrix on 28th September before finalising your college choices.

2. Decide on surrender early, remembering it forfeits the security deposit and must go through your college Principal by 2:00 PM on 2nd October.

3. Confirm whether you must register afresh, then pay the ₹5,900 (General) or ₹2,950 (SC) fee if required.

4. Submit willingness and choose your security category carefully, keeping the ₹2,00,000 private-college amount in mind.

5. Keep 11th October free in case you need to raise an objection in person at Faridkot.

6. Complete balance fee payment and joining between 12th and 14th October, and treat a Round 3 joining as final.
