Nagar, Chennai, is a government medical institution under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) . The college offers an undergraduate MBBS program, postgraduate MD and MS courses across specialties including General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pathology, Microbiology, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, and Otorhinolaryngology, as well as allied health programs . Admission to all courses is based on NEET for undergraduate and NEET-PG for postgraduate programs, and common search terms associated with the campus include a multi-specialty teaching hospital serving ESI beneficiaries and the general public as a referral center for over fifteen ESI dispensaries, separate boys and girls hostels with mess facilities, a central library with digital resources, Wi-Fi-enabled campus, air-conditioned lecture theaters, skill simulation centers, departmental laboratories, sports grounds, gymnasium, cafeteria, bank, transport services, and a dedicated occupational diseases centre .
