Uttarakhand NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1: Registration Extended, Revised Schedule

Aug 26, 2026

Uttarakhand's medical counselling authority has given candidates a bit more breathing room this year, pushing out the Round 1 registration window as part of a revised schedule. If you're targeting an MBBS or BDS seat in the state, here's exactly what the new dates look like and what to do next.

Uttarakhand NEET UG Counselling 2026: Current Status at a Glance

The Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU) is conducting Uttarakhand NEET UG Counselling 2026 fully online, and has released the revised Round 1 schedule with an extended registration window.

Key dates under the revised schedule:

  • Online registration, choice filling & locking: August 13 to August 19, 2026 (up to 5:00 PM server time)

  • Data processing for seat allotment: August 20–21, 2026

  • Round 1 result announcement: August 22, 2026

  • Last date to join the allotted college: August 28, 2026

The registration window opened on August 13 at 11:00 AM and, under the revised schedule, now runs through August 19 — giving candidates extra time compared to the originally planned closing date.

What This Counselling Covers

Uttarakhand NEET UG Counselling 2026 is conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the state's government and private medical and dental colleges, based on NEET UG 2026 (Re-NEET) scores. A total of 1,150 MBBS seats and 300 BDS seats in the state are filled through this process.

The counselling is split by seat type and authority:

  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats: Handled by MCC

  • Central/deemed universities and AIIMS institutes: Handled by MCC

  • 85% State Quota seats: Handled by HNBUMU

  • 100% Private medical/dental college seats: Handled by HNBUMU

So if you're applying for a government college seat under AIQ, that's handled separately by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) — not through HNBUMU's portal.

Registration Process: What to Expect

Registration for Uttarakhand NEET UG counselling happens entirely online at HNBUMU's official portal. Here's the broad flow:

  • Enter personal, academic, contact, domicile, and NEET 2026 details

  • Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and Class 10 and 12 certificates

  • Complete OTP verification on your registered mobile number

  • Register separately for each round — a Round 1 registration doesn't automatically carry over to Round 2

Fees and Security Deposit

Beyond the registration itself, candidates need to budget for two separate payments:

Counselling fee (Round 1 and 2): Rs. 6,500 — this is non-refundable.

Security deposit (refundable):

  • Government colleges, General category: Rs. 10,000

  • Government colleges, SC/ST/OBC: Rs. 5,000

  • Private medical colleges, all categories: Rs. 1,00,000

  • Private dental colleges, all categories: Rs. 10,000

Both the counselling fee and security deposit can be paid online via credit/debit card or net banking.

Why the Extension Matters

A revised, extended registration window typically comes down to giving candidates more time to complete document uploads, fix errors, or accommodate late scorecard access — a fairly standard adjustment during the first round of any state counselling cycle. What matters practically is this: the extension doesn't push back the rest of the schedule indefinitely. Data processing, results, and reporting deadlines are already fixed for the days right after registration closes, so the extra days at the front end come with no slack later in the process.

What Hasn't Changed

  • Quota structure: 85% state quota via HNBUMU, 15% AIQ via MCC remains unchanged

  • Round structure: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and a Stray Vacancy round are still planned

  • Choice locking rule: Choices are automatically locked at the end of the choice-filling window — candidates who don't fill any preferences won't be considered for seat allotment

  • Non-refundable counselling fee: Rs. 6,500 remains payable regardless of the schedule extension

What to Do With the Extra Time

  • Don't sit on the extension — use the additional days to double-check document uploads rather than delaying registration itself

  • Fill choices early and revisit them — you can edit preferences until the locking deadline, so an early submission followed by refinement is safer than waiting till the last day

  • Keep an eye on August 22 for the Round 1 result, and August 28 for the final college-joining deadline

  • Budget for both the counselling fee and security deposit upfront, since payment is required to complete registration

Key Things to Remember

  • Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Round 1 registration, choice filling, and locking now run from August 13 to August 19, 2026, under a revised schedule

  • Round 1 seat allotment results will be announced on August 22, with college joining due by August 28

  • HNBUMU handles 85% state quota and 100% private college seats; MCC separately handles 15% AIQ and central institutions

  • Counselling fee is Rs. 6,500 (non-refundable); security deposit ranges from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 depending on category and college type

  • A total of 1,150 MBBS and 300 BDS seats are up for allotment through this process

  • Choices not filled and locked by the deadline mean no consideration for Round 1 seat allotment
